How Do I Share My DPC Records with a Network Provider?
If you’re seeing a network specialist or hospital and they need your medical records from your Direct Primary Care (DPC) provider, the process is usually simple but requires a bit of coordination.
Options for sharing records:
- Ask your DPC to fax or securely email the records directly to the network provider. This is the most common and reliable method.
- Request a printed or PDF copy of the relevant records from your DPC and bring them to your appointment.
- Some DPCs can send records while you’re at the appointment if something is missing, but it’s best to give them a few days’ notice.
Because DPCs operate outside large health systems, there’s no automatic electronic sharing like MyChart-to-MyChart. Giving your DPC advance notice ensures the specialist has all the information they need by the time of your visit.
