How Does COBRA Coverage Work If I Lose My Job or Eligibility?
If you lose your job or another life event causes you to lose eligibility for the health plan, you may qualify for COBRA continuation coverage. COBRA lets you stay on the same health plan for a limited time, but you’ll be responsible for paying the full cost of the premium.
How it works:
- If you become eligible, you’ll receive a COBRA election notice with instructions.
- You’ll have the option to continue your current coverage for yourself and your dependents.
- Payments for COBRA coverage are made directly through the instructions provided in your notice.
